Cardiff Half for Tommy and ME Research UK
Run for ME
My Story
On 4th October I'm running the Cardiff Half Marathon for ME Research UK, alongside Skye and Dan.
Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) is a chronic, multi-system illness whose defining feature is post-exertional malaise: a disproportionate worsening of symptoms after physical or cognitive effort. There is no diagnostic test, no cure, and no reliable treatment, and management essentially amounts to staying within an energy threshold that effort itself lowers.
Our brother Tommy is one of the people living with ME, and his experience over the last few years has shaped how we understand the condition. It has also made clear how under-researched and poorly understood ME still is, given how disabling it is and how many people it affects, and that is the wider reason we're running. ME Research UK is one of the few UK charities funding the biomedical research that could meaningfully shift things, both for Tommy and for everyone else living with it.
Any donation, however small, goes directly to that effort. Thank you.
